The Behind the Brilliance Awards were created by former international athlete
Connie Henry MBE.
Having run her own charity Track Academy for more than 15 years, she wanted to shine a light on individuals and organisations using sport to change lives all over the country.
The idea is not to pit one individual or organisation against another in a competitive process, rather to highlight the great work that is being done in the sport for social change sector.
Therefore, recipients of Behind the Brilliance accolades have not beat off competition from others, or undergone a subjective view on worthiness from a panel. Instead, they have been chosen because of their outstanding work, effort and commitment to help others through sport.
The Behind the Brilliance Awards will take place at Cadogan Hall in London in September (subject to contract) and will be broadcast on ITV in October.

“I am thrilled to be supporting the Behind The Brilliance Awards. It is unquestionable that there are people behind the brilliance in sport who change lives. We should honour them.” Lord Sebastian Coe
